Question 250913: The book says to solve the system of linear equations.
8x-2y+z=32
6x+1/2y+1/4z=26
x+y-5y=-14
I have tried all the ways I know to solve it and am still getting lost. Will you help me with the different ways to solve this problem and the steps.

Basically, you need to use elimination and substitution, but you have to use all three equations when doing this. You can also use matrices, but I would have to look up matrices in one of my textbooks to tell you how to do it that way (I don't use matrices enough). I have a pdf file ready for you that shows my work, but I would rather meet in via whiteboard to do this and then send you the pdf as notes.
