This is what I have: her net profit is 780 total amount investing is 18,000 profit of 8% and loss of 3%. x=8% and y=-3.
I tried to use this formula: .08x-0.3y=780 but then i got totally confused and stuck. Please help.

Question 154668: I have two problems that I just go blank on when I see these types of equations. I dont know were to start or how to do them. In my textbook there isnt anything like them other than when y1=y2. There are no examples of the given conditions. The answers from the book are #1 is 8 and #2 is 5. I tried everything to come up with those answers, but it is eluding me on how to do the following rational equations. Please help. Thanks.

Question 155009: Write a slope intercept equation for the line parallel to 3x + 2y = 10 passing through the point (-1, -2).
This is how far I got using the formula: y-y1=m(x-x1)
y-(-2)=-3/2(x-(-1)
y+2 =-3/2(x+1)
y+2 =-3/2 + -3/2
y= -3/2 + (-3/2x2)
y= -3/2 + -3/4
Did I go wrong somewhere? Please help, it would be greatly appreciated.
