Question 1126490: Given the set of information, find a linear equation satisfying the conditions, if possible. (If not possible, enter IMPOSSIBLE.)
x-intercept at (x, y) = (−9, 0) and y-intercept at (x, y) = (0, 8)
*This is my work thus far, but somewhere along the way I am going wrong since the answer resulting is not correct*
(-9,0) (0,8)
m= y^2-y^1/ x^2-x^1
8-0/0--9= -8/9
y-y^1= m(x-x^1)
y-8= -8/9(x-0)
y-8=-8/9x
y=-8/9x +8

Question 1126548: If a horizontal line has the equation f(x) = a and a vertical line has the equation x = a, what is the point of intersection? Therefore, the x-coordinate and y-coordinate must be what?
*First I thought that the answers was (0,0), assuming that since no others numbers were given, but discovered that it was wrong. If someone could help it would appreciated.

Question 1127239: Find the area of a triangle bounded by the y-axis, the line f(x) = 6 − 6/7x, and the line perpendicular to f(x) that passes through the origin. (Round your answer to two decimal places.)
*This is what I have came up with so far:
f(x)= y = 6-6/7x.
Slope =-6/7.
-1/-6/7= 7/6.
7/7x=6-6/7x
From here I am lost on what to do next. Multiplying each fraction by its reciprocal seems to be the next step, but I'm not entirely sure if it is the correct step.*

Question 1126923: Q: At the beginning of a political science class at a large university, the students were asked which term, liberal or conservative, best described their political views. They were asked the same question at the end of the course, to see what effect the class discussions had on their views. Of those that characterized themselves as “liberal initially, 30% held conservative views at the end.

Of those who were conservative initially, 40% moved to the liberal camp. It turned out that there were just as many students with conservative views at the end as there had been liberal students at the beginning. Out of the 260 students in the class, how many held liberal and conservative views at the beginning of the course and at the end? (No students joined or dropped the class between the surveys, and they all participated in both surveys.)
