Question 277463: Please help me solve this problem: Suppose you have a lemonade stand, and when you charge $2 per cup of lemonade you sell 120 cups. But when you raise your price to $3 you only sell 60 cups. Write an equation for the number of cups you sell as a function of the price you charge. Denote "C" for the number of cups, and "P" for the price you charge. Assume the function is linear.
Continuing our lemonade stand question:
We all know that local revenue (TR) is a function of the price we charge (P) multiplied by the item quantity sold (in our case-Cups),i.,e.,TR=Price*Cups.
Please write the equation for your TR by inputting your answer from the function you have calculated. What price would you maximize your TR?

Here are the problems:
Find the slope and the y- intercept of the line. Write the fractional answer in lowest terms.
y= -7/4x - 1/9 the slope is:??? the y intercept is(0, )
2. find the slope and the y intercept:
y=2.9x - 5 the slope is:??? the y intercept is (0,)
3. 3x = 4y + 24 (ditto as above)
4. 7- 1/5 y = 2x

Question 277777: You want to rent a mid-size car economically. Avis offers a midsize car for $64.99 with unlimited mileage. Enterprise offers the same size car for $45.87 with 150 miles free, and $.25 a mile after 150 miles. It is clear that Enterprise is the better deal if the car is driven less than 150 miles. But what if you drive more than 150 miles? At what point will the Avis rental become the better deal?

I need to do this using linear equations in slope-intercept form. I know that the slope-intercept form is: y=mx+b. But I can't figure out how to plug the numbers from the word problem into that equation. I need to figure this out because there are other questions that follow this:
1. If A is the cost of renting at Avis, find the linear equation involving A and x. (my answer... A=1x + 64.99 but I am not sure that is right)
2. Let E be the cost of renting at Enterprise. Find the linear equation involving E and x, if x less than/equal to 150. Then, find a linear equation involving E and x if x >150. (my answers... E= 1x + 45.87 and
E=.25x +45.87
There are more questions involving graphing but I don't think I can do that until I know how to to the basics of the problem.
Thanks for any help you can give me!

Question 277923: For the formula: P=MT+B (Y=MX+B) P= population of a town which is chosen to be 5,000 M= 250 (rate of population growth) T= amount of years gone by in order to determine population growth. and B= known population number when T=0.
I figured out that part of the equation, but now they want us to find how many years it will take the population to approximate 7,000 people.
I thought about using this equation P=250/t+5,000, but I don't know if that makes sense. I don't know what equation to use or how to solve it.

Question 277989: Two programmers are working on writing a new program that will check for viruses when incoming messages enter the company’s server.
The first programmer, Sammy, plans to mark up the price of his virus program by 35%, whereas, the second programmer, Martin, plans to mark up the price of his virus program by 54%. If Sammy’s program sells for $285 and Martin’s program sells for $325, who originally had the cheaper program before the price markup? (Hint: Set up linear equations for each programmer)
Sammy takes 5 hours longer to complete 300 lines of code than Martin. Together Sammy and Martin can complete the code in 6 hours.
Clearly explain the results from the calculations of 1) how long it takes each programmer to complete the code if they program on their own (Hint: Quadratic equation) and 2) at what speed they are programming lines per hour.
