Recycled 38 in 1990, 45 in 1991, 45 in 1992, 47 in 1994, 60 in 2001. slope intercept form is y=2.1x+37. y=recycled numbers x= year number coded as 1990=1, 1992=3, 1994=5, 2001=12. Is slope negative or postive? Calculate x-intercept year, what is it and what is the meaning of this point for the data?

Question 264700: Find the equation of the linear function g whose graph is perpendicular to the line 2x – 9y = –45; the two lines intersect at x = 18.
The answer that I keep coming up with is y=-9/2x+81. This is an online problem that I need to submit and it keeps telling me that I'm incorrect! The only thing that I can think that I may be doing wrong is that I'm using the point (18,0) because that's where the lines intersect. What am I doing wrong???

Question 265450: My question is about slope. If you have two lines, is it always true that the line with the largest slope gives the largest output? Does the line with the largest slope ever achieve the largest output? I understand that slope tells how "steep" the line is, but how do you tell which line will have the largest output just by the slope? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Question 265457: I'm trying to solve for a point of intersection between two functions. I think that to solve for the x-intercept, you have to set the two equations equal to each other and solve, but I'm not sure how to solve the two functions that I have. They are (x/60)*15+38 and (x/60)*7+46

But I came up with a different answer than the book. The book says the answer is 3x+4y=10
How do you get that answer?
