Question 973212: For the line –2x+9y=6, find
(a) the slope (b) the y-intercept
(c) the x-intercept
If f(x)=8x-4, find f(c)

Find an equation of the line with the given slope
and passing through the given point: With slope 1 and point (–2, –2)
Determine whether the following pairs of lines are
parallel:(b) 3x+2y=13 and 2x-3y=28
Find the x- and y-intercepts of the line8x+
8x+6y=24 and sketch its graph.
Set x=0
The Medicare Hospital Insurance Fund pays for
some hospital services for those in the Medicare
program. Based on income and disbursements during
1990 –2003, the linear trends for the fund’s income
and disbursements are:
where x=number of years since 1990 and
y=billions of dollars.
(a) Find the intersection of these trends.
(b) Based on the linear trends, when will the
fund’s disbursements exceed income?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
-2x+9y=6
9y=2x+6
y=(2/9)x + (2/3)
slope is (2/9); intercept is (6/9) or (2/3)
x-intercept is -3 . When y=0 -2x=6; x= -3
Not clear about if f(x)=8x-4, find f(c), without knowing what c is.
Slope 1 going through (-2, -2)
point slope formula
y- (-2)=1(x- (-2))
y+2=x +2
y=x
Check slopes in slope intercept form
2y=-3x +13; y =-(3/2)x + (13/2) ;;;; -3y=-2x+28;; y=(2/3)x -(28/3)
They are not parallel, for the slopes are different.
They are perpendicular.
Set x=0 and get y-intercept. Set y=0 and get-intercept. They are (0,4) and (3.0)
I don't have the equation for the last part, so I can't plot the points.
