Question:

Solve for x: 4x-2=x+7

Answer:

4x - 2 = x + 7

Add 2 on both sides.

==> 4x - 2 + 2 = x + 7 + 2

==> 4x = x + 9

Subtract x from both sides....

==> 4x - x = x + 9 - x

==> 3x = 9

Divide both sides by 3

==>

==> x = 3, which is the solution.

Hope you found the explanation useful.
