You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Question:

–3(x + 1) = 2(x – 8) + 3

Answer:

–3(x + 1) = 2(x – 8) + 3

Remove the parenthesis by multiplying....

-3 * x - 3 * 1 = 2 * x - 2 * 8 + 3

==> -3x - 3 = 2x - 16 + 3

Collect the like terms....

-3x - 3 = 2x - 13

Add 3x on both sides....

==> -3x + 3x - 3 = 2x - 13 + 3x

==> 0 - 3 = 5x - 13

Add 13 on both sides.....

==> -3 + 13 = 5x - 13 + 13

==> 10 = 5x

Divide both sides by 5

==> +10%2F5+=+5x%2F5

==> 2 = x

That is x = 2 is the solution of the given equation.....

To check the answer, you can substitute the value x = 2 in the given expression....then you will get the same value on either side of the equal sign..( here either side you will get the value -9)

Hope you found the explanation useful
