Question 840838: Give the constant term and the coefficient of x in the linear expression 8x+rx.
I have no idea what to do I thought 8x was the coefficient and r the constant but I was wrong. Any help is much appreciated, Thanks

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A linear expression, using unknown variable x, and constants are a , b and c :

ax%2Bbx%2Bc----------this is simplifyable.

Combine like terms, to obtain %28a%2Bb%29x%2Bc.
Now you can ask, what is the coefficient of the leading term and what is the constant term.
(*) The coefficient on the leading term is (a+b).
(*) the constant term is c.

Now you should be able to answer YOUR question.
