Question 779622: Find an equation of the line that satisfies the given condition. (Let x be the independent variable and y be the dependent variable.)
The line passing through the origin and parallel to the line passing through the points
(4, 5) and (6, 6)
This has got me stumped help please =/

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Use the fact that slope = ( change in y ) / ( change in x )
given the points (4,5) and (6,6),
slope = +%28+6+-+5+%29+%2F+%28+6+-+4+%29+
slope = +1%2F2+
--------------------
The general form of a straight line is:
+y+=+m%2Ax+%2B+b+
where +m+ = slope and
+b+ = y intercept
So far I have,
+y+=+%281%2F2%29%2Ax+%2B+b+
I also know the line goes through (0,0)
so, I can say:
+0+=+%281%2F2%29%2A0+%2B+b+
+b+=+0+
The line is +y+=+%281%2F2%29%2Ax+
