Graph the line . Use a solid line because your original inequality is not strictly less than.

Since the line does not pass through the origin, pick the origin as a test point. (You can always use any point you like that is NOT on the boundary line).

Substitute the coordinates of the test point into your original inequality (Zero and zero if you used the origin as the test point as I suggested). If the result of the substitution is a true statement, shade the half-plane on the side of the line that contains the test point. If the result is a false statement, shade in the other side of the line.

"Interval notation" makes no sense in this context.
