Question 702503: We are working on linear equations and slope equations and one question says "Determine a value for B and B such that the line will have a negative slope and a negative y intercept. Explain how you determine your answer. (-2x+By=C)"
Any help you can give me to find a way to solve this problem would be appreciated.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
+-2x+%2B+By+=+C+
First, put it into the slope-intercept form
Add +2x+ to both sides
+By+=+2x+%2B+C+
Divide both sides by +B+
+y+=+%28+2%2FB%29%2Ax+%2B+C%2FB+
The slope is +2%2FB+
The y-intercept is +C%2FB+
If +B+ is negative and +C+ is positive,
both the slope and y-intercept
will be negative
I will say:
+B+=+-2+
+C+=+2+
+y+=+%28+2%2FB%29%2Ax+%2B+C%2FB+
+y+=+%28+2%2F%28-2%29%29%2Ax+%2B+2%2F%28-2%29+
+y+=+-x+-+1+
Here's the plot:
