Question 641046: I need help with writing a linear equation that is parallel when given the x intercept.
y=-2/5x+3 x-intercept= -4
I recently had a concussion and forgot how to do this stuff.
If anyone could help me it would be great.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I need help with writing a linear equation that is parallel when given the x intercept.
y=-2/5x+3 x-intercept= -4
:
This is the slope/intercept form y -= mx + b
Original equation
-2%2F5x + 3 = y
Parallel equations have the same slope
x intercept occurs when y = 0, given x = -4, find the y intercept (b)
-2%2F5(-4) + b = 0
+8%2F5 + b = 0
b = +-8%2F5
therefore the parallel equation with an x intercept of -4:
y = -2%2F5x - -8%2F5
:
The graph, original equations is red,
Parallel equation with -4 x-intercept is green
