Question 625354: find an equation of the line through (2,-2) and perpendicular to the line defined by: 5x+3y=7 Answer by lawdej(58) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let line1 be the required one
line2 be 5x+3y=7
to find the equation of line1 which passes through (2,-2)=(x1,y1) first find its slope. how?
look here
slope of line2 is -5/3
the two lines are perpendicular so use the following formula to find slope of line1
slope of line1 times slope of line2=-1
slope of line1=3/5
equation of line1: y-y1=slope(x-x1)
y+2=3/5(x-2)
5y+10=3x-6
3x-5y=-16 this is the required equation
