5x=12x-25-31 Subtract 31 from both sides.


5x-12x=-25-31 Subtract 12x from both sides.


-7x=-25-31 Combine like terms on the left side.


-7x=-56 Combine like terms on the right side.


x=%28-56%29%2F%28-7%29 Divide both sides by -7 to isolate x.


x=8 Reduce.
