Here's one way to do it. I did this problem for someone else earlier today.
Graph f(x) = 3x + 2
f(x) is the same thing as y, so you graph this the same way as y=3x+2
Let x=0 and solve for y:
y=3(0)+2
y=0+2
y=2 Plot (0,2)
Let x=1 and solve for y
y=3(1)+2
y=3+2
y=5 Plot (1,5)
Connect the points and you have a line.
