Question 574578: y=x+3
calculate the slope, x-intercept, and y-intercept. Label the intercepts on a graph. I am wuite talented in math normally, but I have not done this in a while. Can you provide me step-by-step illustration so I might be able to use it as a guideline to complete and understand my college homework

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
+y+=+x+%2B+3+
This is in the slope-intercept form which is
+y+=+m%2Ax+%2B+b+
+m+ = slope
+b+ = y-intercept
All the +b+ does is shift the straight line
up or down and does not affect the slope, +m+
------------
To show this, I will graph 3 lines:
+y+=+x+%2B+3+
+y+=+x+%2B+1+
+y+=+x+-+6+
+graph%28+400%2C+400%2C+-5%2C+5%2C+-8%2C+8%2C+x+%2B+3%2C+x+%2B+1%2C+x+-+6+%29+
Now I'll keep +b+ the same and vary the slope, +m+
+y+=+x+%2B+3+
+y+=+2x+%2B+3+
+y+=+-5x+%2B+3+
+graph%28+400%2C+400%2C+-5%2C+5%2C+-8%2C+8%2C+x+%2B+3%2C+2x+%2B+3%2C+-5x+%2B+3+%29+
Notice that the y-intercept at (0,3) remains fixed
Hope this helps
