You cannot write the equation of a line. There are an infinite number of equations whose solution set is a set of ordered pairs that comprise a line in . You can write an equation in slope-intercept form that represents a line. Note that -3 is NOT the -intercept. -3 is the -coordinate of the -intercept. That is because the -intercept is a point and must be fully qualified by an ordered pair. The -intercept of a line in is an ordered pair of the form where is the -intercept of the -coordinate.

The slope-intercept form is where is the slope and is the -intercept of the -coordinate. You are given both values, so just substitute them into the form.
