You can put this solution on YOUR website!
In order to be parallel, the lines must have the same slope
When straight line equations are in the form +y+=+mx+%2B+b+,
+m+ is the slope
given:
(1) y+=+bx+%2B+5+
(2) 2y+=+%28b+%2B+4%29%2Ax+-+1+
(2) +y+=+%28%28+b+%2B+4+%29%2F2%29%2Ax+-+1%2F2+
In order for the slopes to be equal,
+b+=+%28+b+%2B+4+%29+%2F+2+
+2b+=+b+%2B+4+
+b+=+4+ answer
The equations would then be:
(1) +y+=+4x+%2B+5+
(2) +y+=+4x+-+1%2F2+
