Question 4718: "solve for x"
1) 4x^2+12x+9=0
2) 7(x+2)^2=12
3) 2x^2-8x+5=0
4) (2x-5)/(x-3)=(4x+1)/(2x)

You can put this solution on YOUR website! 1) 4x^2+12x+9=0
(2x+3)(2x+3)=0
2x+3=0
2x=-3
x=-3/2
2) 7(x+2)^2=12
7(x^2+4x+4)=12
7x^2+28x+28=12
Subtract 28 from both sides:
7x^2+28x=-16
Divide by 7 and complete the square:
x^2+4x=-16/7
(x+2)^2=-16/7+4 ,
3) 2x^2-8x+5=0
Subtract 5 from both sides and Divide by 2 and complete the square:
x^2-4x=-5/2
(x-2)^2=-5/2+4 ,
4) (2x-5)/(x-3)=(4x+1)/(2x)
Multiply both sides by (2x)(x-3)
(2x-5)(2x)=(4x+1)(x-3)
simplify
Subtract from both sides
-10x=-11x-3
Add 11x to both sides
x=-3
