Straight-line equations, or "linear" equations, graph as straight lines, and have simple variable expressions with no exponents on them. If you see an equation with only x and y then you're dealing with a straight-line equation.
the most useful form of straight-line equations is the "slope-intercept" form:
+y+=+mx+%2B+b
This is called the slope-intercept form because "m" is the slope and "b" gives the y-intercept.
One of the most important properties of a straight line is in how it angles away from the horizontal. This concept is reflected in something called the "slope" of the line.
To find the slope, you need two points that lie on a line and you use the following formula:
slope formula: m+=+%28y1+-+y2%29+%2F+%28x1+-+x2%29
Let's find the slope of this line equation:
y=-2x%2B3 ......compare it to +y+=+mx+%2B+b and you immediately see
that slope m=-2

or this line
y+=+4..compare it to +y+=+mx+%2B+b and you immediately see there is no slope...here we have a line parallel to x-axis%29%29%29+which+goes+through+%7B%7B%7By+=+4
or this line
x+=+5..compare it to +y+=+mx+%2B+b and you immediately see there is no slope...here we have a line parallel to y-axis%29%29%29+which+goes+through+%7B%7B%7Bx+=+5

x- and y-intercepts:
The graphical concept of x- and y-intercepts is pretty simple. The x-intercepts are where the graph crosses the x-axis, and the y-intercepts are where the graph crosses the y-axis.
the y-axis is also the line "x+=+0"
in the same way, the x-axis is also the line "y+=+0"....
so, to find y-axis set thex+ in the equation of a line to +0
in the same way,to find x-axis set they+ in the equation of a line to +0
