 equation of the line passing Through (2,3) (-4,9)

Using the point-slope formula, m+=%28y%5B2%5D+-+y%5B1%5D%29%2F%28x%5B2%5D+-+x%5B1%5D%29

( 2,3) 

(-4,9)   m = -6/6 = -1



Using the standard slope-intercept form for an equation of a line y = mx + b

  where m is the slope and b the y-intercept.

 y = -x + b

 3 = -1*2 + b  |using ordered pair (2,3) to solve for b

 5 = b

   y = -x + 5  Or x + y = 5 in standard form
