Use the information in the first equation and plug it into (substitute it into) the second one.
2x%2B3y=22
2x+%2B+3%2A%283x%29+=+22
Now simply and solve for x
2x+%2B9x+=+22
11x+=+22
Divide both sides by 11
x+=+2
Now that you have solved for x, substitute that value for x back into the first equation and solve for y
y+=+3x
y+=+3+%2A+2
y+=+6
Now check you answer using the second equation
2x%2B3y=22
2%2A2+%2B+3%2A6+=+22
4+%2B+18+=+22
22+=+22 which is true so x=2 and y=6 are the answers
