please clairfy your question, which one are you talking about:
A) -(1/4)x = 3/4, or
B) -1/(4x) = 3/4?
basically, you need to tell me if X is the nominator or denominator. thanks.

(-1/4)x=3/4
Multiply both sides by "4" to get:
-x=3
Multiply both sides by "-1" to get:
x=-3
