Question 315316: Can you show me how you would graph the line with slope 2/3 passing through the point (4,1)
Answer by Alan3354(69443) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! It's a straight line, so 2 points are needed.
One is given, (4,1)
A slope of 2/3 means that for 3 squares in the x direction, you move 2 squares in the y direction.
Since it's +2/3, both moves are + or both minus.
Start at (4,1). Add 2 to the y and 3 to the x --> (7,3)
Add any multiples, eg (4+3n,1+2n) where n is any number, + or minus.
--> (10,7), (1,-1), etc
Pick 2 points, plot them draw a line thru them.
