Question 314465: Elsa is driving on the highway. She begins the trip with gallons of gas in her car. The car uses up one gallon of gas every miles.
Let represent the number of gallons of gas she has left in her tank, and let represent the total distance (in miles) she has traveled. Write an equation relating to , and then graph your equation using the axes below.
There is a x and y graph involved too.
What is this type of question under? For instance, is it Algebra or graphing?
I have only found this so far "Writing Equations and drawing graphs to fit a narrative." Is there a standard name for the terms? Thanks.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let, Elsa begins the trip with G gallons of gas in her car.
Let gallons of gas she has left in her tank = y gallons after she travelled distance of x miles.
As per the problem and our asumption,
when at the strating of the tour x=0 , y=G
after she travels x miles , y = G- x/1= G-x
So the equation is , y=G-x
To plot a graph, if we assume G=15 then our equation is y=15-x
To plot a graph, if we assume G=10 then our equation is y=10-x
To plot a graph, if we assume G=5 then our equation is y=5-x and so on....
