You can put this solution on YOUR website!
substitution method:
6x - y = 10
y = -3/4x - 1
--------------
Sub for y into the 1st eqn
substitution method:
6x - y = 10
6x - (-3x/4 - 1) = 10
6x + 3x/4 + 1 = 10
27x/4 = 9
27x = 36
x = 4/3

Solve by substitution:
6x-y+=+10
y+=+%28-3%2F4%29x+-1 Substitute this for y in the first equation.
6x-%28-%283%2F4%29x-1%29+=+10 Simplify the left side.
6x%2B%283%2F4%29x%2B1+=+10 Multiply through by 4 to clear the fraction.
24x%2B3x%2B4+=+40 Combine the x's.
27x%2B4+=+40 Subtract 4 from both sides.
27x+=+36 Divide both sides by 27.
