Question 294490: Hi, I need help working out y = 3x + 1, in this question I need to work out the gradient, the intercept and I need to plot a graph and use a function machine. I don't have a clue why, could you help me out? Thanks

You can put this solution on YOUR website! y=3x+1 is in the slope intercept form y=mx+b where m is the gradient or slope and b is the y intercept.
so m=3 and the y intercept is 1 or (0,1)
To graph it plot (0,1) and increase x by 1 and y by 3 to get (1,4) as the next integer point .
Now connect the two points with a straight line.
I have no idea what a function machine is.
It appears that a function machine is a game they play to make a table of x and y.
More nonsense terms to confuse math students.
I don't know how many times you have to play the function machine game but you only need to points to graph a line.
So I am done
If you want more points just add 1 to x and 3 to y
2,7 will be the next integer point
