A linear equation is an equation whose graph is a line. There are two common forms:
The STANDARD form: a*x + b*y + c = 0 where a, b and c are constants.
The SLOPE-INTERCEPT form: y = m*x + b. In this from m is the slope of the line and b is the value of y where the line crosses the x-axis (that is when x=0).
