Question 274198: Find an equation of a linear function o(x)for which o(3)=7 and o(-1)=5.
Then find o(20).*
*By the way...the "o" is supposed to be the symbol in my problem which is an o with a vertical line through it...I'm assuming it's just a variable like x or y.

Not "a variable like or " This is function notation, like .
You want to define such that and .
This is almost exactly the same thing as saying "What is an equation, in slope-intercept form, of the line that passes through the points (3, 7) and (-1, 5)?"
The only difference being that in one case you would derive an equation of the form but in the given case we will derive an equation of the form .
Use the two point form of the equation of a line:
Where and are the coordinates of the given points.
