Question 268582: Solve graphically.
y=-1/3x-1
4x-3y=18
I feel dumb because I know once you show me how to do this I will go AHHH that's how but for the life of me I cannot figure this out. Please help.
Thanks

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=-x/3-1 (red line)
4x-3y=18
-3y=-4x+18
y=-4x/-3+18/-3
y=4x/3-6 (green line)
Intercept (3,-2)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The graphs are 2 straight lines. 2 points is sufficient to plot a straight line.
Where they cross is the solution.
----------------
y = -x/3 - 1
Pick 2 values for x and find y.
x...y
0...-1 --> (0,-1)
6...-3 --> (6,-3)
Plot the 2 points, draw a line thru them
------------
Do the same for the 2nd eqn.
Where they cross is the solution.

Solve graphically.
y=-1/3x-1
---
Plot two points:
Let x = 0, then y = -1 giving you point (0,1)
Let x = 3, then y = -2 giving you point (3,-2)
------------------------------------------------
4x-3y=18
y = (4/3)x-6
Let x = 0, then y = -6 giving you point (0,-6)
Let x = 3, then y = -2 giving you point (3,-2)

Solution: (3,-2)
