step 1 - distribute the (-) to get
(ii) 8x+-+3x+-+4+=+6
step 2 -combine like terms to get
(iii) 5x+-+4+=+6
step 3 - add 4 to get
(iv) 5x+=+10
divide by 5 to get
(v) x+=+2
