Question 261885: -2(3x-4) = 2x
I thought the variable is always moved to the left? What do I do in this case where there is no constant on the right?
I came up with 8 = 8x... sounds too easy to be right.
Thanks!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
What you have done so far is absolutely correct...have more faith in yourself.
You should finish the problem by dividing both sides by 8:
8%2F8+=+8x%2F8 so...
x+=+1
Check:
-2%283x-4%29+=+2x Substitute x = 1.
-2%283%281%29-4%29+=+2%281%29 Simplify.
-2%28-1%29+=+2
2+=+2 OK!
