Question 255852: the perimeter of a triangular dog pen has one side represented by 2x, another side represented by x + 19 and the third side represented by 3x + 6. Find the algebraic expression for the perimeter. Find the numerical perimeter if the value of x is 5 feet. there are 2 answers and i must simplify this expression. I have no idea how to do this. please help.....

The perimeter of any polygon is simply the sum of the measures of the sides. Here, you have three sides:

Just collect like terms to simplify. Once you have a simplified expression, substitute 5 for the variable and do the arithmetic.

the perimeter of a triangular dog pen has one side represented by 2x, another side represented by x + 19 and the third side represented by 3x + 6. Find the algebraic expression for the perimeter.
Perimeter = 2x + x+19 + 3x+6
----------------------------------------
Find the numerical perimeter if the value of x is 5 feet. there are 2 answers and i must simplify this expression.
P(5) = 2*5 + 5+19 + 3*5+6
P(5) = 10 + 95 + 21
P(5) = 126
