-3%2F8+1%2F4-1%2F8=1%2F2x
Now you need LCD so you can add or subtract fractions;
-3%2F8 + 2%2F8-1%2F8=1%2F2x
-2%2F8=1%2F2x
-1%2F4=1%2F2x
Multiply each side by the inverse of 1%2F2(which is 2%2F1);
-1%2F4(2%2F1)=x
-2%2F4=x
-1%2F2=x
