Graph the line except draw the graph with a dashed line instead of a solid line. The dashed line is because the inequality is strictly "less than" rather than "less than or equal"
Pick a point that is NOT on the line. Anything will do, but a point with small positive integers for coordinates usually makes for the easiest arithmetic. Substitute the values of the coordinates in the point you selected into the original inequality. If the result is a true statement, shade in the half-plane bounded by the line you graphed previously and containing the selected point. If the result is a false statement, shade in the other side of the line.
The solution set is the shaded area and does NOT include the dashed boundary line.
