Question 224873: How can I figure out all the corrdinates for y = -2x - 7 in order to graphic them out. I think I understand the graphing process. Just coming up with all the coordinates is what confuses me.

Step 1. Coordinates of a point (x,y) are x and y so for your equation (x,-2x-7).
Step 2. It takes two points to make a line. So let x=0 then y=-2*0-7=-7. We have the coordinates of a point as (0,7).
Step 3. Find the other point. Let's say x=1, then y=-2*1-7=-9. We have another point with coordinates (1,-9).
Step 4. Use the two points in Steps 2 and 3 given now as (0,7) and (1,-9) to draw the line as shown below:

y = -2x + -7
Reorder the terms:
y = -7 + -2x
Solving
y = -7 + -2x
Solving for variable 'y'.
Move all terms containing y to the left, all other terms to the right.
Simplifying
y = -7 + -2x
The answer could not be determined
