Question 224773: Graph the equation using slope and y-intercept
7y+4x=7
Answer by drj(1380) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Graph the equation using slope and y-intercept
Step 1. Need to put above line in slope intercept form given as y=mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept b when x=0 or at point (0,b).
Step 3. Solving for y in yields the following steps.
Subtract 4x from both sides of the equation
Divide by 7 to both sides of the equation
Step 4. Comparing with we have the slope and y-intercept when x=0 or y-intercept is at (0,1)
Step 5. Starting with (0,1) we move seven units to the right and four units down since this is a slope of -4/7. Thus, the other point is (0+7,1-4) or (7,-3)
Step 6. ANSWER: The graph is shown below using the points (0,1) and (7,-3)
I hope the above steps and explanation were helpful.
