I am having problems with this question.

Consider the function 2 + y = 3x

I am asked to write the equation in standard and slope intercept form.
It also asks for the slope and y intercept.

Step 1. Slope and y-intercept form is y=mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept. The y-intercept b occurs when x=0 then y=b.

Step 2. ANSWER: Given 2+y=3x, then y=3x-2 is in slope intercept form where slope m=2 and y-intercept b=-2. I arrived at the answer by subtracting 2 from both sides of equation.

Here's a graph of y=3x-2. Note on the graph that at x=0, then y=-2

Solved by pluggable solver: DESCRIBE a linear EQUATION: slope, intercepts, etc
Equation 3+x+%2B+-1+y+=+2 describes a sloping line. For any
equation ax+by+c = 0, slope is -a%2Fb+=+-3%2F-1.
  • X intercept is found by setting y to 0: ax+by=c becomes ax=c. that means that x = c/a. 2/3 = 0.666666666666667.
  • Y intercept is found by setting x to 0: the equation becomes by=c, and therefore y = c/b. Y intercept is 2/-1 = -2.
  • Slope is -3/-1 = 3.
  • Equation in slope-intercept form: y=3*x+-2.

I hope the above steps were helpful.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2+%2B+y+=+3x
Standard Form is Ax+By=C. So make your equation look like that:
-3x%2By=-2
Slope/Intercept form is y=mx+b. So make your equation look like that:
y=3x-2
The slope is the 'm' term, and the y intercept is the 'b' term.
