When deciding which side of a line to shade when graphing an inequality, the origin, given that the boundary line does not include the origin, is an excellent choice for a test point. Substitute zeros for both variables in the inequality. If the result is a true statement, shade in the side of the line that includes the origin. Otherwise, shade in the other side.
