Y=mX+b is the line equation. m=slope
1. y = -5x -17 slope=-5

2. 10 = y + x
y=-x+10 slope=-1

3. y = 2x - 5 slope=2

4. 4x + y = 0
y=-4x slope=-4

5. 3x - 4y + 16 where's the = sign?

6. -2y - 16 + x where's the = sign?

7. y = -11x - 3 slope=-11

8. y = -3x - 14 slope=-3

9. 2y + 2x = 18
2y=-2x+18 slope=-2

10. 6x + 5y = 10
5y=-6x+10 slope=-6

The solution posted by Checkley is INCORRECT for #9 and 10!! It is beyond me how anyone who has posted SO MANY solutions on algebra.com could make such a GREVIOUS error!!

To find the slope you must first solve for y.
9. 2y + 2x = 18
2y = -2x +18

Divide each side by 2:
y = -x + 9
The slope is -1

10. 6x + 5y = 10
5y=-6x+10

Divide both sides by 5:
y=%28-6%2F5%29x%2B2
The slope is -6%2F5
