Question 176219: heres the problem that my teacher had gave me.
Tara is a musician. She signs a contract with a local lounge to play a show for them on Friday night. The lounge manager agrees to pay $110 to reserve the night,plus an additional $6 for every customer,c,that comes in to hear her show.
Questions:
1.Write an equation that shows how much Tara will earn in total,e,depending on how many customers come to hear her show,c?
2.If 25 customers come,how much will Tara earn in total?
3.If Tara wants to earn at least $500,how many customers will need to attend?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Write it in English, then translate to math:

Tara's total is $110 plus $6 times every customer. Let T mean total, and c mean the number of customers, then:

T+=+110+%2B+6c

You can answer the second question by substituting 25 for c and doing the arithmetic.

To answer the third part, first solve your equation for c:

T+=+110+%2B+6c

Add -110 to both sides:

T+-+110+=+6c

Divide by 6:

%28T+-+110%29%2F6+=+c

Now substitute 500 for T and do the arithmetic.

Questions:
1.Write an equation that shows how much Tara will earn in total (e),depending on how many customers come to hear her show (c)?
E(c) = 110 + 6c
----------------------------------------
2.If 25 customers come,how much will Tara earn in total?
E(25) = 110 = 6*25 = 110 + 150 = $260
----------------------------------------
3.If Tara wants to earn at least $500,how many customers will need to attend?
110 + 6c >= 500
6c >= 390
c >= 65 (# of customers needed for Tara to make at least $500)
