: Directions state: Write the equation of the line passing through each of the given pairs of points. Write your result in slope-intercept form, where possible.
Problem: (-5,3) and (4,1)
What I have:
m = (1-3) / [4-(-5)]
m = -2/9
y-3 = -2/9 [x-(-5)]
My solution: y = -2/9x + 17/9
This just doesn't seem right to me. Can you please help? This question is from textbook beginning algebra
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Believe it or not your solution is correct. Whenever you are unsure plug in the second point and see if the equation is correct.
(-5,3)
y = -2/9x + 17/9
3=(-2/9)(-5)+17/9
3=10/9+17/9=27/9=3
