I tried to solve both equations for y:
z=x+18/4
y=4x-3
but when i tried to find which of the solutions choices were correct, i couldnt come to any of them. Im not sure if i solved for y wrong, or what im doing thats incorrect. Id like to kno the correct choice and how to come to it. Thank you! Answer by Earlsdon(6294) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Solve: Substitute this for x in the first equation. Multiply through by 4 to clear the fractions. Combine like-terms (the y's). Subtract 3 from both sides. Divide both sides by -15. Now substitute this for y in either of the two original equations. Substitute y = 5. Simplify. Add 20 to both sides.
The solution is: (2, 5)
