Question 148085This question is from textbook Elementary and Intermediate Algebra
: I am having trouble starting off with this equation. I don't want the answer. I just need to understand how to set the problem up. The problem is graph 6x + 8= 4x-2y. This is what i think i need to do first. I think you have to replace x with a number, but what is throwing me off is the y that was added in. Thank you for your help.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! I am having trouble starting off with this equation. I don't want the answer. I just need to understand how to set the problem up. The problem is graph 6x + 8= 4x-2y. This is what i think i need to do first. I think you have to replace x with a number, but what is throwing me off is the y that was added in.
------------------
6x + 8= 4x-2y
You 1st need to solve for "y":
2x + 8 = -2y
x + 4 = -y
y = -x-4
-----------
Now, let x = 0, then y = -4
Let x = 1, then y = -5
------------
Plot the two points (0,-4) and (1,-5) and draw a line thru them.
Cheers,
