Standard form means in the form Ax +By = C, where A is positive, and A, B, and C are integers. In other words, get the x and y terms on the same side of the equation, and make sure the x coefficient is positive.

y+1 = x+2

I prefer to get the y to the right side in order to keep the x ocefficient positive.
1=x-y+2

Rewrite this as
x-y+2=1, and subtract 2 from each side:
x-y=-1
