Solve the 1st equation for y to get: y = 2x-4
Substitute that into the 2nd equation to solve for "x":
2x-(2x-4) = 3
4 = 3

This is a contradiction that arose we assumed the x in the equations
was the same and we assumed the y in the equations was the same.
----------
They are not; the system is inconsistent.
