To find a x-intercept you plug 0 in for y and solve for x.
y = 1.3x + 5
0 = 1.3x + 5 --> subtract 5 from both sides
-5 = 1.3x --> Multiply both sides by 10 to clear the decimal
-50 = 13x --> divide both sides by 13
-50/13 = x
To find a y-intercept you plug o into x and solve for y.
y = 1.3(0)+5
y = 5
so the x-intercept is x = -50/13 or (-15/13,0) and the y-intercept is y = 5 or (0,5) depending on what form your teacher wants.

Find the x- and y-intercepts of:

The x-intercept (the point where the line crosses the x-axis) occurs when y = 0, so setting y = 0 and solving for x will find the where the line represented by the equation crosses the x-axis.
Set y = 0.
Subtract 5 from both sides.
Divide both sides by 1.3

This is the x-intercept (-3.846, 0).
The y-intercept occurs when x = 0, so set x = 0 and solve for y.
Set x = 0

This is the y-intercept (0, 5)
