Since the person has to pay $150 no matter what, this is the fixed cost. Also, since the cost for each day is $100, this is the variable cost. So the equation would follow the form


S(x)=Variable Cost * x + Fixed Cost


So in this case the equation is

S%28x%29=100x%2B150


S%285.5%29=100%285.5%29%2B150 Now plug in x=5.5 to evaluate S(5.5)


S%285.5%29=100%286%29%2B150 Round 5.5 to 6 (remember, it's $100 per day or partial day)

S%285.5%29=600%2B150 Multiply


S%285.5%29=750 Add


So this means that when x=5.5 the cost is $750
