You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let L=length, w=width

Since "its length is 2 meters more than twice its width", this means

L=2w%2B2

Remember the formula for the perimeter of a rectangle is

P=2w%2B2L

16=2w%2B2%282w%2B2%29 Plug in P=16 and L=2w%2B2

16=2w%2B4w%2B4 Distribute

16=6w%2B4 Combine like terms on the right side

0=6w%2B4-16Subtract 16 from both sides

-6w=4-16 Subtract 6w from both sides

-6w=-12 Combine like terms on the right side

w=%28-12%29%2F%28-6%29 Divide both sides by -6 to isolate w

w=2 Divide

So the width is 2 m

L=2%282%29%2B2 Now plug in w=2

L=4%2B2 Multiply

L=6 Add

So the length is 6 m

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let p=perimeter
Let w= width
Let l= length
p+=+w+%2B+w+%2B+l+%2B+l
p+=+16
l+=+2w+%2B+2
2w+=+l+-+2
16+=+2w+%2B+2l
16+=+%28l+-+2%29+%2B+2l
16+=+3l+-+2
3l+=+18
l+=+6
The length is 6 meters
check answer:
l+=+2w+%2B+2
6+=+2w+%2B+2
2w+=+4
w+=+2
p+=+w+%2B+w+%2B+l+%2B+l
16+=+2+%2B+2+%2B+6+%2B+6
16+=+16
OK
l+=+2w+%2B+2
6+=+2%2A2+%2B+2
6+=+6
OK
